MARK THESE DATES

IT’S A DATE
Who would have thought we would be here planning our days in 2011, making it through the new millennium, singing Real Housewives and Y2K unscathed. With so many brilliant events, fun parties, packed orgies, various holidays and special birthdays to fit into one’s schedule, it’s hard to keep track of it all. Find that calendar application on your smartphone or buy yourself one with pictures of Brett Favre and mark down these days of interest. You’d never want to miss the release of Stevie Nicks’ latest album “In Your Dreams” (05/03) nor Queen Latifah’s birthday (3/18). She’s a Queen for goodness sake! Yes, both divas.

In the finale of January, 80s rockers Styx will be “Rocking the Paradise” while tearing it up at The Show at Agua Caliente Resort and Casino on the 21st. Sexy daddy Jason Statham appears (predictably shirtless) in The Mechanic exploding in theatres on the 28th. While the SAG Awards are happening in Hollywood on the 30th, I’ll be in Tampa, Florida judging Miss Gay Florida USofA. Details of this adventure to follow in the next issue!

February brings pre-orders for Verizon customers clamoring for the iPhone on the 3rd while I bounce over to Rancho Cucamonga on the 12th for another WGI winter guard regional competition. The Grammy Awards are on the 13th and Britney Spears will be performing her newest smash “Hold it Against Me.” Valentine’s Day pops out on the 14th so if you don’t have a boyfriend to buy you roses and dinner, grab someone’s who will. Kidding, of course. Totes. I’d never encourage that. Culinary crusader Anthony Bourdain brings his honest wit of travels and beyond to the McCallum Theatre on the 19th and songbird Patti Austin touches heart strings with her incomparable voice on the 26th. Will Natalie Portman take home Oscar gold on the 27th? Tune in and see what (and who) everyone’s wearing.

The month of Spring (3/21) offers daylight savings time happening on the 13th of March with Paris Fashion Week starting on the 1st. Always in fashion, Liza Minelli celebrates another year wiser on the 12th while Rosie O’Donnell scissors into another year on the 21st. Sir Elton John also welcomes another year on the 25th. Happy birthday, ladies! In New York City the annual Black Party erects on the 19th and dark times are to be had by all in attendance. Been there, miss that.

They say April showers bring May flowers. It will be raining women during the Dinah Weekend (3/30-4/3) as hot girl-on-girl action ensues at main events Club Skirts and Girl Bar. Men will be showering one another in testosterone and sweat while attached to ecstasy-fueled love trains slithering around the White Party parades from the 8th through 11th. Beg for that tax extension by the 15th or expect inevitable hell from the IRS. And don’t forget Scream 4 starring Courteney Cox premieres in theatres on the 15th. BOO! I’m scared. A “Day of Silence” will bring attention to anti-LGBT bullying and name calling in high schools around the country on the 15th as students take part in a silent protest. Jewish folk shall represent on the 19th with the beginning of Passover and everyone should dodge the Easter Bunny and pastels on the 24th.

May will bloom with fabulous happenings when Palm Springs celebrates at the eighteenth annual “Evening Under the Stars” on the 7th while the sober patrol congregates for “Sober in the Sun” from the 5th through 8th at Hotel Zoso. Send your mom a card on the 8th to check off Mother’s Day from the calendar and start watching the French Open on the 22nd. Lady Gaga drops her soon-to-be-epic album Born This Way on the 23rd of May while her “little monsters” rejoice and raise their hands up to testify in worship. If you’re in Chicago on Memorial Day Weekend (5/27-30) check out the leather fest and freak show during the International Mr. Leather circus that invades the Hyatt Regency while down south they’ll be partying in red t-shirts at Disney World during Gay Days in Orlando starting on the 31st and pushing through the 6th of June.

This can definitely be recognized as the Chinese calendar’s “Year of the Rabbit” since there’s so much to hop to and sniff around during the first half. June delivers X-Men: First Class hitting theatres on the 3rd while the Tony Awards high-kick on the 12th. Appreciate your dad on Father’s Day coming in on the 19th. The longest day of the year with the shortest night brings us Summer Solstice on the 21st and Barbie’s boyfriend Ken celebrates his 50th birthday. I’ve loved bringing you all the knowledge one must know for making the year great! See you back here midway through ‘11 to synchronize our calendars accordingly.
